Umm.... don't typewriters cost money lol.......but really is there any downloadable application that I can use and print cause I don't know where I can find find a typewriter.
Most public libraries have access to typewriters. Just call around and inquire. If a library isn't near you that has one, scanning the application and then typing it on a word processor on your computer might be an option. Can't say i've tried it tho, so don't quote me lol
If you have no other option, then I suppose loans are all you have.
But that doesn't make debt any less negative. I don't like owing anybody anything, especially not a corporation that can take liens on my property, garnish my wages, or any other method they can come up with.
But I know if it is between school A (which may be more prestigious) that offers 1/2, and school B that gives a full ride then shiidd..my decision is clear.
That's totally understandable. I see nothing wrong with options. That's why i stress research so much. Please kinfolk, thoroughly look up info on these schools that you are all interested in, as well as put in some serious time and effort for scholarship searches. Not that loans can't be a lifesaver sometimes (because trust...they've come in handy for me a time or two lol), but just let them be your last option.
And please don't just limit yourself to scholarships offered by the schools you applied to. There are also a PLETHORA of scholarships that exists via the web, libraries, highschool college centers, etc. Many people use the excuse "well HU didn't offer me the money I needed, so i decided not to go". If you truly feel that a particular school is the place for you, then go above and beyond to make that dream come true. If you keep your gpa above average (in highschool, as well as college), and stay on your grind (in highschool, as WELL as in college), there is no reason why you shouldn't have the majority, if not all of your collegiate expenses covered by financial aid.
Please give your input. You have an excellent way with words and the more info provided, the better
Oh, and if you cant already tell by my sig...I'm HYPE about Homecoming!!!
lol, i see i see. Maybe i've overstayed my welcome at HU, but i'm just so over homecoming for some reason. I think i'm gonna need to leave for years, go thru withdrawals for a lil bit, and then maybe i'll gonna get all gahgah over it like i used to lol
I see all of the bases have been covered, so i am SO not needed here lol.
However, i will attempt add a lil 2 cents. Prospestives, please please PLEASE keeps your eyes on the prize (academics) first and foremost. I cannot stress that enough. Not just in highschool, but in college as well. When it comes to scholarships, financial aid options, and even your future career goals....in alot of cases, your grades could either make or break you. Yes, campus involvement is important and also a big part of your collegiate experience, but at the end of the day...you're coming to learn (and graduate lol). K, i'll get off my soap box now...
You have A LOT going on so I see why you have been MIA, lol. But I feel you cuz one summer I had an Internship, part time job and had to maintain my spot in the Work for Housing program.
Seems like a Bison's day is never done; we are ALWAYS grindin...
Oh, it was hell when i was in summer school at the same time.It was only one course, and I thought I was gonna die...no really lol. Everyday I would leave home with the sunrise and not come home until it was pitch black outside. Constantly movin.
It's all good tho, i live for staying active. If i'm not busy, i'd go crazy lol
Yup, it's that time of year again...FOOTBALL SEASON!!!
Right now I am only concerned about two match-ups: Homecoming and the HOWARD/hampton game. I will DEFINITELY be in the building to see the Bison deliver NC A&T a fat LOSS at Homecoming. However, nothing would please me more than to beat hampton.
I really really really really really really really dont like hampton. *And I require all incoming freshmen to hate them also*Freshmen please take note; this game is serious. The Battle of the HU's is no joke. We always have more school spirit than they do, our band is better, our cheerleaders are cuter and we are always more lively in the stands.
Oh, and did I mention that I dont like hampton? No, seriously...I dont like that school.
I am officially starting a countdown until we beat the hampton Pirates on September 8, 2007:
The institute has 30 days left to prepare for their azz whoopin!THEY DON'T WANT NONE OF THE REAL HU!
You should be giving this talk to the football team. Because we might have better school spirit and a better band, but spirit and a band doesn't win football games...teams do lol. If you're lookin for em, i think you can find about 60 percent of em sittin on the upperclassman bootywall in front of the Towers...nightly lol
No offense to any HU atheletes on here lol
IT'S ABOUT THAT TIME!! The school year is quickly approaching!...Nervous huh? lol, well there is no need to be. Why? Because there are various support systems waiting for you at HU that will help in anyway possible.
As freshman orientation week approaches, you will be bombarded with tons of programs and events to attend. One MUST have that you should definately be in attendance for is "Sister Stars" in the School of Communications. Although Sister Stars is a program that is sponsored within the school of c, it is not just limited to school of c women. It is a program that was started to be a support system for young women on campus and foster development. You'll definately get some information there that will be beyond helpful. So feel free to come out and network, socialize, and meet some other phenomenal young women. I'll be one of the speakers, so come on out and see for yourself if i'm just as nice in person as i am on here...lol jk. It will be held on Tuesday, August 21st from 6 pm-8pm in the Biology Auditorium. Oh, and for the men there is "Man Up", which will be held at the same time in room G-10 in the School of C.
OH, and I CANNOT forget to invite you all (male AND female) to Wednesday Night Live, which will be held the following night (wed.) at 6:45 in Rankin Chapel. This is an event like no other! There will be singing, dance, comedy, stepping, and so much more. So if you're looking for something upbeat, that will get you hyped for the upcoming school year, and allow for you to mix, mingle, and fellowship, feel free to come out to the chapel on wed. and be blessed beyond measure. Hope to see you all there!

GET READY FOR A COLLEGE EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER! GOOD LUCK BISON!
oh ok cause i read in another thread something about the govenator and ppl were saying "i'll be back" and I was liek.... "omg i dont believe it's in CA!" but fortunately I was wrong.
Anyway, so I try to fill out the Howard online Application and it won't let me finish - it keeps saying that someone is tryin to break in and won't let me do it! I sincerely hope that isn't the case, cause i put my SSN in one of the application feilds.
I'd advise you to do a paper application instead. Technology isn't always the safest bet sometimes, plus it would help to have something tangible so you can make copies and have evidence of your work. You will come to find that having back ups will save your life...no joke lol. Just call the number on the website and have administration to mail you a package. That will probably eliminate any future issues

OMG... Kenya... this time last year, I was already in DC... this alumna stuff is for the birds...
Boo, I SO believe you. I've been working full time on top of an internship...and it's only been the summer so far. Rent, on top of credit card bills, on top of a phone bill, on top of....lawd...I can't breathe. If it's only like this now, i don't even wanna imagine the future. Lawdhamercyonmahsoul
I wouldn't mind a guy to treat me to something, but it isn't required. Nor is he entitled to anything in return for a gesture that he took upon himself to offer. If anything, since i'm one that believes in curteous manners, the decency of a "thank you" and a polite/gracious response seems quite suitable. However, If you're giving to get something, then the giving isn't truly sincere anyway.
I don't expect a single thing out of a man that it is not significant in my life in one way or another. If I just met him and he he hasn't even gotten to the "associate" status just yet, the only thing i'd "expect" is respect...and these days, even that is hard to come by (especially at any place where liquior is readily available).
Branded Bison, you are NEVER online!
You know we have to maintain the HU male presence around here. Seems like the ladies are tryin to take over...
This forum is just a microcosm of the state of HU...or most collegiate institutions for that matter. Women outnumber ya'll lol. No need to try to take over, it's already been done lol
