Hi, I'm from the Bay Area, California(Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose), and I just wanted to know how the kids from California will be received, and there's not attitude towards us or whatever? :-) Oh! and hows orientation work? Is it fun, whats the deal? Thanks!

Well one thing you must know about A&T...Aggies come from all over the country, so I highly doubt you will have a problem being received since you're from Cali. I'll admit there arent a lot of people from the West Coast but eveyone gets along so you'll be fine. As for orientation...you will have a lot of fun. Be prepared to take placement tests, and you will pick your classes for the fall and become familiar with all the important people in your major (advisors etc.) Everyone gets split up into groups with an orientation counselor, you'll tour the campus and get familiar with Aggieland. There's gonna be A LOT of socializing going on so my best advice to you is to be yourself and get to know as many people as you can...it'll be easier adjusting in August b/c you'll already know people. And most likely you'll have something called the "Aggie Experience"in Corbett Gym with games and stuff, and a gym jam afterward. Like I said...a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it! AGGIE PRIDE!!!
awww my torch of advice giving has passed.... good explanation Miss Jessica
Wow! Some of ya'll have interesting jobs.
I'm currently working at Walgreens. It's not the best job. My last job paid a little bit more, but each job had it's pros and cons. I wish the location I work at would be a bit busier. Time would fly and I wouldn't feel as if I've been there forever. I really don't understand the mentality of folks liking NOT having to do anything. I'd rather be keeping myself busy...
Had my father not waited too long, I would be working as a court house secretary/assistant in downtown Detroit. Good money. My father's friend is one the district judges.
One thing this whole work experience thing has taught me, is that I don't want to be doing this as an grown woman...not that I didn't already know this, but it really enforces it...this place can get booorrrringgg. Plus, you never learn anything important. It's not fulfilling...
Cosigns on the last part...I work as a pharmacy technician @ CVS. I love the hours, the pay is pretty good and the job is walking distance from home. But my boss seems a lil sneaky 2 me. And counting pills and filling prescriptions gets really old REALLY FAST. I just started working there but hopefully I'll start to like it...ONCE THOSE FAT CHECKS START COMING IN!

A&T and SCSU have the 1890s program which gives you a four year full scholarship, with 800 dollar book voucher, lap top, and gauranteed room and board for four years.
Like ol dude said before A&T is known for the Engineering program which is number one among HBCUs and is ranked among the PWIs as one of the best in the nation. It also has the second best Journalism & Communications program to Hampton's top, and the best Psychology program among HBCUs, which is not widely known, but it doesn't have a grad program there, and it produces the most black CPAs, which I think are accountants. It's also one of the best HBCUs for grad programs.
Choose the school based on the education you're planning on getting and not the social atmosphere. A&T is known as a party school, but it's not neccessarily true. There are parties, but you have to find a ride there. And incomming freshmen can't have cars starting Fall '06.
46 years ago today, four A&T freshmen went to the E.J Woolworth diner in downtown Greensboro and launched the Sit In Movement, they were actually here this morning for the annual Sit-In breakfast (would've gone but i had to work today)
AGGIE PRIDE!!!!! The statue of the Greensboro four is right outside my dorm so I had the pleasure of waking up to A&T's Alma Mater being sung by the University Choir right outside my window.
