I've been wanting to go to FAMU for years and now i have everything laid out on the table for me. I also wanted to go to Ga. State Univ and everything is still laid out on the table for me. I have a boyfriend and we r in love. No one seems to understand juss how much we care about each other because he is 6 yrs my senior. ( I am 19) I have decided to go to Ga. State this fall so that I can better prepare myself for any mishaps that may happen when im at FAMU...(i.e. grades slipping)....BUT my mom wont let me stay. She TOLD ME that she'll do anything in her power to get me away from my boyfriend because I'm in love and i'm too young to know what that feels like....I dont understand the bullshyt she is pulling, but what i do understand is that she wants the best for me, and he and I do too. He is NOT asking me to stay, but if I go there are chances that I may lose him because right now he is goin thru sum stuff and he needs me. He'll have to cope with the fact that i'm gone and he's not gonna wanna go thru that every yr. and I dont blame him. We always say dat if it was meant to be, it will be, but right now it seems impossible. What should I do???
....well understanding that you love your boyfriend and you would want to stay not only for your gpa but to be there for him as well....i personally think that you should go. If you have the opportunity to get out of state to go to school then thats an experience you should definitely take/consider. I think at this point in your life you should really think about your education and your future...you said you always wanted to go to FAMU...if that is a dream school of yours and you really want to go then you should go and not be held back by anything....i dont know your boyfriend but if he loves you then he will understand...sometimes distance can make a relationship stronger...and in other cases it can weaken the relationship but that only proves that there was no strong foundation to begin with. You don't know what you would miss out on if you stay in georgia....
Its a tough decision but you are 19 years old...you are stepping into adulthood and you know deep down inside what the best thing is for YOU and nobody else BUT YOU....this is YOUR time and you have to do whats the best for you...
Hmm, I don't completely understand your post.
You're going to GA State because you're preparing yourself for any mishaps? What mishaps? Why would your grades slip?
Also, while I know you want to be supportive of your bf, you have to also remember your future is in your hands. These next 4-6 yrs are critical. If FAMU is where you really want to be, then go there. You're man is 25, grown, and hopefully had his time to get his education at the establishment of his choice. He should understand regardless. However, if you're not pressed about going to FAMU, then go to GA State.
What matters is that the school you chose provides you with all you need such as your major, opportunities, quality academics, support, and a decent social life at an affordable price. Whichever school fits into that is where you should go...
U heard the saying distance makes the heart fonder. Well if it's meant to be then u have to believe that ur realtionship will be able to overcome any obstacle. Distance is just want one obstacle that ur relationship will have to overcome in order for it to remain successful. Some times u have to take the time to think about urself and ur future. I think u should pray on it and allow GOD to lead u in the right direction. Good luck!

thank u all for ur responses, i really do appreciate it. I understand that my future is in my hands and i do not think that i would be losing anything by going to either skool, both skools have a LOT for me to gain especially academically. Im 19 and my mom seems to want to control my life and make my decisions for me. She had her life at 19, I just want mine, because I wont screw it up, I want to succeed too bad for that!
