Cabell Midland's Sansom ready to run

INSTITUTE -- Cabell Midland's Tyler Sansom doesn't necessarily care where he plays for the South Cardinals during Saturday's North-South All-Star Football Classic.
He just knows he wants to play and he wants to play fast.
Sansom's speed and versatility have had him in several different positions in the week leading up to practice.
Sansom started the week as a slot receiver in South coach Eddie Souk's offense, but has now moved to the outside where he can use his speed to be a deep ball threat for the Cardinals.
"I actually got moved to wide-out instead of slot because (South Charleston's) Pierria Henry didn't come," Sansom said. "It's pretty interesting to have two guys that can really get the ball out there to me."
The quarterbacks throwing to Sansom will be Hurricane quarterback Tyler Pate and South Charleston quarterback Tyler Harris.
Both are a pair of guys that were used to winging the ball around the field in Spread attacks, but are leading a more run-oriented attack this week.
That doesn't necessarily mean that Sansom's touches will be limited though.
His versatility will allow him to line up on the outside for deep routes or in the slot where he can run underneath or come in motion for potential running plays as Souk's playbook allows. Sansom doesn't mind where or when his number is called; he's just ready and excited to answer. "In the slot, I'd go underneath a lot and across the middle, but where I'm at split I can take off on a lot of deep patterns," Sansom said. "This is the best game I'll ever have played in. As far as playing, this is definitely most challenging. Running against linebackers and corners is much different." During his high school career, Sansom was one of Cabell Midland's all-time greatest receiving threats and was a mainstay for three years in the Knights' offensive scheme. Although his days in the Scarlet and Silver of the Knights are over, he still gets another chance in a familiar-colored shirt -- and for that, he couldn't be happier. "It's a little bit fitting I guess," Sansom said. "One more in the red." The practice week has also allowed Sansom to get acclimated to what his life in college will be like as well. He signed with West Virginia State University back in February and will join teammate Evan Shoemaker with the Yellow Jackets. For full article click here.
