Former Bulldog player, coach now Hampton AD

Keshia Campbell has enjoyed an upwardly mobile transition froman All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference playerinto decision-making roles off court.

Since completing seven seasons as women's basketball coach at her alma mater South Carolina State, where she compiled a 71-123 record and won MEAC Coach of theYear honors in 2001,Campbell has worked for the NCAA, handled busines affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas and served as assistant and associate athletics director at Hampton University.

On Aug. 15, Campbell will make her return to "Pirate land" when she takes over as athletics director. She replaces Lonza Hardy, who held the post since 2007 and resigned to become the newAD at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

"I am thrilled and honored to be appointed to the helm of the Pirate athletics program," Campbell said in a press release. "Hampton is recognized as one of the best Division I mid-major programs in the entire country and I look forward to carrying on the tradition of excellence."
